Sailing Section

Welcome to the website of Avon Scout County Sailing Section

The bulk of the sailing activity in the County is concentrated into the Avon Scout County Sailing Section.  Sailing may be carried out elsewhere in the County but must be supervised by properly authorised leaders.  The Sailing Section does run courses for adult leaders to enable them to lead or assist in sailing activities. 


Recognised by the Royal Yachting Association as a training establishment, it organises both introductory sessions and training courses covering a wide range of abilities and is able to issue nationally recognised qualifications. The Avon Scouts Sailing Section operates mainly from Baltic Wharf, Bristol Harbour, and uses mainly Bahia, Wayfarer, Pico and Topper sailing dinghies.

It is suggested that Scouts that have previously attended an introductory Tuesday or Thursday evening might find it more satisfying and instructive to attend one of the courses that are provided. RYA Courses
